THE_GROOP PMO

The Story

In July of 2007, THE_GROOP, a multi-disciplinary interactive design firm, had come to a realization. Over the previous year, management had seen project scope on some projects constantly changing, expenses continue to rise and a decrease in overall capacity to take on new projects. This caused profit to suffer. All of these things culminated on one project that had ballooned from an original 12 month estimate to over 18 months and climbing. Their Project Management system needed a change.

THE_GROOP had tried many options to improve project controls. They hired multiple project managers with limited success. They tried more process, which further lowered capacity and continued to push some delivery dates. Management was frustrated, employees were frustrated. Each of the solutions they implemented regardless of being "more" or "better" where based on older methodologies. What they needed was a paradigm shift!

The Results

Using Digital Onion's Point Man system, THE GROOP's Project Management system underwent drastic improvements. THE_GROOP significantly raised profits while lowering Project Management staff costs 66%, at the same time increasing the capacity to manage projects from 8-10 projects/year to 20+ projects/year and correspondingly, increasing profits by 300%!
